Looking to buy a 182 again. Seen one for sale locally that's done approx 95k, all the necessary engine work was completed 15k ago. Decent condition. Omp wheel. Mot history looks ok (new mot in July required). Last mot shows some corrosion underneath the car and on suspension (I'll be fitting coilovers anyway). Only issue is that 2nd gear sometimes crunches in high revs..apparently. it's up for 1700. What do we think?

That's what I was thinking. He says it's only occasional crunch. But. I'm planning on visiting the track so that's hardly ideal. That being said, a refurbished gearbox is circa 250. But swapping them out isnt exactly fun. What would you consider to be a realistic price?

When were the belts done? 15k ago could have also been 10 years ago! What colour is it? If the belts have some life left in them I'd offer £1200ish and haggle from there. If they are due I'd go £1k max.

Very good point lol. Judging by the listing it was done 4 years ago but I'm checking as we speak. It's the darker blue (not RB) I'm not sure what its called. Cheers for the price guide. Anyone else wanna give their opinion on price?

I've sent him the offer. I've said that I don't wanna be another *insert insult* and offer him money sight unseen. But that is where I'm thinking and if he wants to tango then I'll go see it this weekend. Thanks for the advice mate

Hes having none of it lol. He suggested we both save time and that I look at another car. Fair enough I suppose. I'm in no rush. I'll keep an eye out for something else. Who's got something for sale?

What did you offer, £1k? Easier to forget it and keep looking.
No, I went straight in at £800. I said that I would come and view it providing we were in the ballpark.

I agree though. These cars arent rare as such. Plenty around. That being said, most of them are a fair ride away

Worth having a look if its really tidy etc.

He needs someone to buy it who isnt aware of belt costs etc,

At his current price you would be looking at 3 ish with the work done

Thats exactly it. He needs someone who isnt aware. Unfortunately for him, this isnt my first rodeo so I know the costs. I've also had a cambelt snap on me and dont fancy that happening again.

Its always hard to tell on how tidy it is on pictures. It seems tidy enough but not mint as such. If I go and look, he knows I want it and hes got me over a barrel. A grand would be my max on that particular car and judging by his response after I offered him 800, its not gonna happen lol

What we reckon

15/65 Fiesta ST2 Black
1 Owner.
49k
FSH.

Bumper scuff, bar that it's clean with no previous paint.

  Clio mk2
Really unsure of what this is worth in its current state, anyone have any ideas? I know non sports aren't quite as desirable...
Will need some work to go through its MOT so I'm debating whether to break it, transfer as many parts to my 182 and sell the rest. Then either scrap it or put it back to a normal pov spec.

Clio MK2 1.2 ‘Extreme’ – Black – 172 Sport Rep

83k miles.
MOT till 04/20.
Timing belt/water pump done in 07/16, 72k miles.
PSH before me, FSH after. 6 owners.
2 keys with original folder.

A full project thread is at https://www.cliosport.net/threads/project-daily.740107/

Owned since 2013. All modifications/changes done in my ownership.
Will be very sad to see this go as it was the first car I bought and have spent an awful lot of time and money on it. If you know me or the car, you know how OCD I am with it.
Only selling as I now have a 182.

Very cheap to insure even with mods declared (£230 for me currently). Also, very good with petrol. Around 35 city centre driving. Can easily get 50mpg + on long runs.

Big folder full of receipts and MOTs.
Will throw in a couple of extra bits and bobs e.g. bulbs, detailing bits, and bonnet bra.

Exterior/Exhaust
Powerflow exhaust system from catback (subtle, not stupidly loud).
172 front bumper (smoothed plate recess).
172 back bumper (smoothed badges/boot button).
172 front arches/inner arches.
172 side skirts.
Wing mirror surrounds/plastic trim/door handles/side trims/bullets painted.
Both front grilles painted.
Fog light surrounds painted.
Rear spoiler re-painted.
Fabia front splitter painted.
Black vinyl applied over fog lights.
Mist washer jets.
Black front badge.
Washer blanks.
New bonnet.
Black side repeaters.
Rear arch lips rolled.
Bosch wipers (replaced Dec 18).
Rear wiper removed/plastic area smoothed over and painted.
Small aerial.
Lock key cap cover.
Heko wind deflectors.

Lights
Black insert headlights.
Led/upgraded bulbs all round.

Interior
172 seats/doorcards.
Lots of interior trim and plastic bits painted.
Large amount of parts trimmed with fabric including roof liner.

Suspension/Wheels/Tyres
TA Technix coilovers.
Rota Grids (vgc).
Callipers/Drums painted.
Falken ZE914 tyres.
25mm spacers on the front/20mm rear.
Camber shims on rear. Believe at -1.5 degrees.
TPI Polarised wheel bolts/locking.
Wheels aligned in summer 2018 after garage bodged replacing the wheels.

Audio
Uprated battery to cope with the audio.
Kenwood KDC-BT73DAB.
Vibe Blackair front/back/tweeters
8” InPhase subwoofer and box (easily removable).
4 channel Vibe amp, built into back with cover.
Sound deadening added to front doors.

Bad points
Rip on drivers seat (on pics).
Occasional weird noise on start up but it’s done this since I’ve owned it. Had a couple of garages look at it but everything was checked, and all was fine. Has never given me any issues.
Handbrake plastic is cut down the middle. Was going to take it off and trim it but have ran out of time.
Front coilovers are seized. Could probably be fixed but have no time to look at this. Sits at the perfect height so doesn’t bother me too much.
Have to open the boot manually from inside. Again, not bothered me too much but if I was keeping it I’d get someone to install a popper from the dashboard.
Few age related marks down the sides of the car. Worse part is the roof.
Some parts that are trimmed could ideally be done again.

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying a track ready Clio that will also for a track day a month and to be used for some daily driving (when its raining and not commuting on motorbike).

I just wanted to gauge your opinion if this car is good value for money? I really like the newer Clio shape, but I am open to a cheaper older one if I can find the right one.

I wouldn't say that's a stellar spec, but it's a decent starting point. A standard 100k 197 would be around £2-2.5k.

Thanks buddy appreciate that, ill keep an eye out for something similar.
No worries. It may be wise to familiarise yourself with prices of things like roll cages, coilovers wheels and seats so you can make a better assessment of any track prepped cars you see. Ktec coilovers aren't as good or worth as much as AST's for example. Gauging how good a spec a track car is is half the battle when shopping for one already built.
