How much to offer for Clio 172?

Hi, I just joined the forums as I`m thinking of buying a 172. Used to have a Seat Leon Cupra 1.8T but got rear ended and it was a write off. Fancy a fun, fast car you can chuck around and heard the 172 is perfect for that.

I've seen a 172 on a 2003 plate with 43,000 miles on it for sale @ £5500 at a dealers, is that a good price? As I'm paying cash and the Cambelt is probably due for a change what sort of deal do you think I could get, how much cash should I aim to get knocked off it?

I'd say it was a good price anyway. Depending in colour (flame reds are worth more )

i'd say if you like it offer him 5.000 cash see what happens .or look in auto trader thers loads knocking about now

it should have had the aux belt done at 36k miles, check that in the service history. It's due a cam belt at 5 years old anyway so allow for both, use that and any little niggles like stone chips dents etc need for wheel refurb, tyres etc to bargain

£5500 aint too bad if it's got any sort of warranty with it being a dealer. Aim to knock a bit off though.

Do these cars have a lot of interior rattles? My Seat had a few rattles, despite only having done 31,000 miles. I guess its the price you pay for cheap performance.

Mines had rattles, but nothing abit of stuffed in pipe lagging won't fix!

I got mine in Oct last year; 2003 172, had about 45k miles on, I paid £5250, was up for £5550. Like zack said, I'd offer £5000.

i bought mine 2 weeks ago silver 30k 2004 53 reg 30k on the clock full service history 4 brand new tyres 12 months mot and 6 months tax 6500 from a dealer you think it was a fair price?

Pretty much what I paid for the same car/miles/age, but I got them to do the aux belt too.

My take on it was that I didn't get a bargain but I don't feel ripped off either.

same way ive looked at it. just hate the feeling of being ripped off lol but it did also involve a 400 mile trip to london to get it too lol
