How reliable are 182s?

  2002 White RS 172.
As the topic says. I had a nightmare with my old punto turbo, and my C2 hasn't skipped a beat in the 13 months i've owned it, so i'd just like to know how the 182 is reliability wise. Also, how long does the factory warranty span on them?

cheers in advance

3 years reno warrenty 2 years inports
The imports so long as there not from Cyprus have the full 3 year warently so long as you send the letter to Renault to ask for it.

edde can u still apply for it months after u bought the car ???
I assume you mean the warently past 3 year/60k?
If so so long as the cars under 3year or 60k old then yep you can buy it once its over 3year or 60k though you cannot apply for it.
Its not cheap but when you see what it includes full AA cover its just like the standard warently includes hire cars etc you'll realise that its a bargin.

  TDI tyre shreader
All imports exculding the cyprus ones have a full 3 years warrenty. I know i have one!!!

Had mine from new (1 year ago) and the temperature sensor broken after 3k, but thats it, it's done 11k now and feels like it needs a service. Every good overall.

Bought mine (second hand with 3k miles on) in October, haven't had any probs. Oh and she is pretty much rattle free too :)

Any idea on the cost for this Edde?
It depends what you want.
3 year 80k £600
3 year 100k £800
4 year 60k £500
4 year 80k £800
4 year 100k £1000
5 year 60k £800
5 year 80k £1000
5 year 100k £1200

Thats for 172/182's

Its cheaper for cars under 1500 cc over 2.2k and you pay more.

You can buy them online from Renault Uk site.

You guys with 'rattles', do you have sensitive ears or just bad examples? My 182Cup has done almost 24k and it feels a solidly put together as the day it was delivered. WTF do you all expect from a performance car that cost £13k brand new and keeps up with cars costing £30k?

Sorry I'm not having a dig at anyone, I'm just amazed at how many comments I read on here about rattles. STFU, stop cleaning it with a toothbrush, and just drive it

To be honest, it does seems strange that some people do have cars which basically live with the dealers and others have had 40k+ miles of no hassles at all. Maybe down to driving styles? Just seems very odd.

had my 182 since march 2005,which i brought brand new.the only thing a had to claim for under warranty was a snapped wheel brace which they had to order in and should be in next wednesday.thats it touch wood.

To be fair mine has had problems. Firstly the temp sensor issue made my car break down and that was fixed reasonably quickly. Then my exhaust fell apart and was replaced under warranty with no quibbles. Now my cruise control is playing up with the ESP light and Service light coming on sometimes - I'll get that looked at at my 24k service.

But overall the car has been great. I've given it death from new, over 18 months and 24k miles and its now faster and better than ever, with no rattles that I notice. I paid £12380 brand spanking new for a car that performs like one costing £30k. For someone considering a potential purchase of a small light hatch, I reckon thats all they need to know.

Pot luck at the end of the day. It will be flawless or it will be going back in every five minutes.

The problem are the dealers more so than the cars. I honestly believe they are the most incompetent w*nkers going. They are not fit to play with a lego set let alone work on cars. Half the problems with reoccuring faults are dealers simply not identifying and sorting the source of the fault in the first place. Instead they just seem to reset ECU's and replace random sensors and yet the same problems keep happening.

Also you can almost guarantee that your car will come out worse than it went in. They managed to smash my splitter, get paint down the doors, scratch the interior trim, always mess up the tyre pressures, steal my tyre repair foam and when it was serviced they left the cover on the front of the engine loose and lost screws from the plastic cover.

lol give that man a medal for summing up my thoughts.

My only gripe is leaking rear shock absorbers, I've had several things done under warranty, all common problems. such as brake pressure sensor, engine oil leak, leaking headlamp washer, 5 burst rear shocks also had headlight load sensor adjuster thing replaced under warranty after it broke when I drove over a plastic drinks bottle at 100+ lol

never had a problem with reliability, has started first time every time and put a big grin on my face 90% of the time I drive it. Owned from new in June 04 and currently on 26,100 miles

Had mine about 14 months now and just short of 20k.
Leaking shock replaced at first service and thats it.
It's got all the usual rattles, but i wouldn't take it to Renault any of those,as they'd probably make it worse;) .
Just gotta remember it's a cheap car,so it's not going to have Audi quality fit and finish:D

s**t engine mounts
s**t exhaust system
s**t headlamp washer jets
s**t/creaky suspension

thats about it

and diabolical dealers.

Had mine 6 months now. The only problems have been squeeling / whistling noise at high speed - went back several times for that now sorted - the windscreen wasnt properly sealed. The alarm acted up. That was an easy fix. The climate control failed. Again that was an easy fix. Now and again a couple of lights will intermittently light up on the dash, but they go off again before i can see what they are. I did have an exhaust rattle but that was sorted too.

In general, it hasnt been that bad TBH. I'm not exactly particularly gentle with it either.

pbirkett the lights on your dash: try pressing your brake pedal gently and see if the brake lights come on instantly, if not your brake pressure sensor needs re-calibratred / replaced and the lights come on when the abs system does an integrity check, sees you're braking and the brakes aren't 'on' and s***s itself.

I don't think so many of the hammered and abused cars have been no trouble.

Kind of agree to a certain extent...my 172 is four years old but seems pretty well nailed together.:D

Had mine since March 04

Superb car, no problems and my dealer is pretty good as well.

Still loving owning it after over 2 years, performs great and as reliable as any new car i have owned.

Imports do have 3 years AA assistance . I used em a couple of weeks ago .

If you have any questions on warranties or AA assistance contact Renault customer service on Tel. 08000 723372 .

Also as said full 3 years warranty ( 2 years manufacturer , 1 year dealer ) on all imports except from Cyprus or Holland .

Does the brake pressure sensor fault cause the ESP/ABS & Service light to come on?

yeah i think so and the stop light too i think, its been ages since it happened to me. search should reveal the lights which do come on.
