How to Actuate ABS system/remove air from brakes.

Following on from my other thread my local specialist haven't been able to fully rectify my spongy brake pedal. I have bite now but still too much pedal travel.

I'm going to buy another Eezibleed kit and plenty of fluid and have another stab at it msyelf, I think my old kit had a leak.

If there is any air still in the system is there anyway for me to actuate the ABS system? Should I have the car running? pump the pedal with the Eezibleed system on? How can I work the air out the system? I have an RsTuner but am not sure if it has the ABS module/capabilities.

Hi Ben,

The only way i know this is possible is with the CLiP diagnostic tool.

That said ive never had to use it to get rid of air in a system on a clio. If your bite is good but pedal is 'long' it could point to another issue?

Have you have any work done to the braking system to have the need to bleed or was it for servicing purposes?

Long pedals usually point to a problem with mechanical components like seizure of calpier sliders/pistons and having to make the pad move further than normal to touch the disc surface.

Do you have standard calipers still?

I put new discs, pads and lines on. Have spoken to Dan at 519 and will be popping over on Friday evening. He did mention a caliper could have been pushed back slightly too far.

Yeah they're still standard calipers.

Have had the pump kick in a few times but haven't rebled since. Not going to have time before tomorrow but will update this thread with whatever the solution was.

As I thought, needed bleeding again. My local garage obviously weren't doing it properly as a **** tonne of air came out the back right. All sorted thanks to Dan at 519, top bloke.
