How to change the top engine mount (F4R).

  vers le haut doigt milieu
Go one tell me,

  • Renault Clio 172 F4R engine.
  • What bolts to remove and pictures to help?
  • What tools are required?
  • What part to get Renault or Ketec (part number for Renault)?
  • How long will it take?
  • Any other useful info?
I have searched though many threads to find a guide but none exist, I assume this is not that difficult, obviously I won't be doing this myself (might break a nail) but I have people who will do it for me but have never done it before on this car. Any guides info thread links will help me very much.

fella give JMStuning (jamesstone) a tinkle, he's done a few of these, sure you could pop round there and he would give you some pointers.

JMStuning???:D Love the name!

Safe tho, I almost forgot to ask, I'll PM James and ask for some pointers but I thought he was going snowboarding for the rest of the year?

You got any recommendations for mounts Tom?

Bash, if you can get the part then i might be able to get it on for you in the morning, off the top of my head

1. Get the car on axle stands - via the box section
2. Remove lower engine cover plate - x4 10mm head bolts
3. Get a jack under the sump with a lump of wood or similar to spread the load & raise till the jack is just taking the weight of the engine

Now inside the engine bay

1. Remove engine cover
2. Remove x3 long bolts from the mount that hold the engine to the mount
3. Remove the x4 bolts holding the mount

Bolt the new one back in & do the reverse when putting every thing bk together, Job done!

This is just quickly off the top of my head, there may be some thing i've missed :S just give me a ring mate

I'm telling ya tom JMS-Tuning will be as big as coca cola one day ;) - :rasp: thanks again for helping out last night mate, top man ;)

  ITB'd MK1
under tray off, remove nut from center of mount, carefully jack up engine off mount, remove top bracket to engine (3 bolts), unbolt mount (4 bolts)

re-fit is reverse of removal
