The problem is this, i have the photos on my phone but have no way of putting them on the computer as i have no cables or anything to connect my phone up to the pc
basically im asking if anyone else who puts pictures taken by their phone on this forum if i can text you the photos so you can put them on for me
If anyone of you peeps have a k&N on their valver/willy then i have basically made this cold airbox in a simular design to the hillpower version but this is alot better and far cheaper. lol
The airbox its self is made from a empty 4 litre helix oil container with the diagonal top chopped off, A hole is then cut out at the back of the container for the back of the K&N which goes onto the throttle body, not forgetting to cut a bit extra out for the two little breather pipes
Now at the base of the container cut a circular hole out, just wide enough for some cold air ducting to go through the hole and the other end of the ducting pipe will connect up to standard outlet where the black pipe off the standard airbox went, From this point it all works the same as a hillpower induction kit but the box itself covers most of the filter and the only open part is right at the top
So basically now if you close your eyes and try and picture what it looks like (lol) the empty 4 litre container with the diagonal top chopped off, (the handle for the drum was at the top also so thats gone) is sitting next to the throttle body with the K&N inside, the bottom of the container is flat but the top of the container is higher up at the side nearest the radiator and slopes down at the other side, which sits neatly under the throttle cable, im sure everyone knows what a 4 litre oil container looks like, they are nearly all diagonal at the top!!
ok hope this is making sense LOL!!
Right, the bad thing about the Hillpower kit is that the filter is still able to draw hot air at the top.
so on my design the high sided part of the container facing the radiator has another hole cut out right at the top and another cold air pipe goes from there to the hole next to the radiator, were the crappy k&N cold air pipe goes, This will blow freezing cold air over the top of the filter
I have taken my passenger side foglight out and replaced it with a ram pipe that connects up to the ducting that goes at the base of the container so it rams masses of cold air into the cold air box and circulates round the filter
JOB DONE
Although its taken me a year to design this box it really is a piece of piss to do
Also you can rap the box in heat resistant material or even tin foil to reflect the heat, he he maybe i should go on Blue Peter
hope i can get some pictures up!!
ps.. if you unsure about chopping the top off the oil drum, get an adult to help you!
