How to tell if cup springs are geniune??

  clio 172
Wondering if anyone can help, I've just bought what I think are a set of cup springs off ebay for my mk 2 172.
How can I tell if they are geniune renault cup springs and what are the difference between standard sport versions, are they shorter or have a noticeable drop ect....?
Any help would be much appreciated.

172 Cup springs have a yellow and white stripe on them somewhere I believe, with non-cup having two white stripes.

I think...

Either that or it's the other way round lol

Cup springs are slightly lower (~5mm) and slightly stiffer, and have a lot less 'coils' on the actual spring than the 'normal' ones.

The springs do have the yellow and white stripes painted on them

I am changing the springs over tomorrow so hopefully the sport ones have the two white stripes like you suggest.

I will post some pictures up tomorrow for comparison.

Thanks for pointers =)

Lots of miles, lots of track use.

Never noticed a real degradation in performance, but with the pounding the standard springs and dampers take, I always thought it best to give it a fresh set every now and then.
