How to use my own router with BT DSL home hub

I've got BT infinity but I want to use my own router which has better wireless. It's not a DSL router though so I want to use the EWAN to connect my router to the home hub. Am I right in thinking I should run an ethernet from the WAN port on the home hub to the EWAN port on my router (billion bipac 7800)?

I put my router in to EWAN mode and PPPoE but it can't connect.

This is the home hub:

Disable DHCP on your billion bipac 7800 and give it an LAN IP address that isn't the same as your BT Hub IP (or any other device on your network), connect the LAN port on the Billion to the LAN port on the BT Hub. This will just use the Billion as a WIFI access point. Do not use any WAN ports on either device.
