Hub nut, self locking?!

Recently changed my bearing in my car up front and the new nut is weird it has like a car around it with cut outs if that makes sense. Not a standard nyloc nut.

Do I need a special tool to lock it in place or is it automatic in the way it prevents it from undoing?

Can get a pic if required. Thanks

That looks to me to be just the standard type of hub nut you get with most wheel bearings. The bits with cut the outs grips on to the thread of the driveshaft to stop them coming loose. The washer that spins on the nut is to spread the load across a larger area and allow the torque to applied to the nut better as it reduces the friction on the 2 faces.

Long winded way of saying - it's fine! Lol
