I’ve got a lumpy one

Got a 96 N reg 16V. Recently started running very lumpy even when warm. Also when idling the revs die and nearly cut out. Is the problem my idle control valve or something more major ? The car is on 65K. Where is the valve located, is it a difficult job to take off, clean and replace with some carb cleaner ?

Thanks for any help.

id look at the icv first or could be coolant temp sensor

idle control is located at the right hand side of engine bay looking from the front, on front of the inlet manifold next to the throttle body inlet ,thers a pipe off the airbox into the icv then out into the inlet manifold u cant miss it, jus pull one of the pipes off and spray some cleaner into it
