I fancy a 197

Yes I had one & it was a bad'un (friday car) but I am considering selling the 172 and getting a 50-70k milage 197. I get nervous when the car gets to 80k for selling on purposes purely, as I know the flamer Is an epic lil car! I've always wanted a 197 alongside the vee.

Am I mad? Should I wait till the new rs comes out as 197 prices should come down more.

I love the little 172 but just fancy a change!

I do remember the 197 feeling lardy compared to the 182, just felt nicer & looked nicer. Yes liquid yellow would be ace but they will hold their prices even on higher milage

I'd consider anything bar black as it hides the curves on the 197

Do it I love having the vee and the 200 but I do miss my 172 ;( they are just so much fun to drive but 197 and 200 feel a nice car to be in.

Considering the way that 200's are in price freefall atm, you would be mad to look at a 197 lol.

Buy a 200 in 6 months time for £7k instead.

I used to love the LY ones, until I saw a few in the flesh. To me it doesn't suit the 197, it's best left on the Meganes.

dont buy one for £4-£5k, theyll either be dogs or have no options whatsoever.

saying that, a lad i know has just bought one with no options, bar xenons and climate for £7k!

hasnt even had the belts done ... and its silver

Keep the flamer. It's tidy enough to be worth good money even at 90-100k.

You'll lose in depreciation in a year with a 197 what the 172 is worth, so it's not a good move financially if that's how you're trying to justify that.

To be honest, 197's took a massive hit in price over the last 2 years.

I doubt they will depreciate much more. Just slowly now over the next few years.

Like you said Dawn you can get a decent one with option now for 5.5-6k with low miles.

Pay close attention to a crunchy gearbox, especially 3rd and 4th gear.

The performance just don't justify the running costs imo. Hell my R26 is getting better MPG.

Plus the 3.5k @ 70 is annoying as hell.

Im getting an average of 37.3 in my 200 on my commute to work. 35.2 on motorways @ 70

I think the mpg is good? I can get 420 miles to a tank using some of the petrol warning light.

Theres not much difference between what my 172 was.

many thanks guys, i've had a 197 and iirc only managed 27mpg from her. Im not too bothered as I dont do much milage daily.

Need to shift mine before I look at replacements. That red one is so lovely though, a real bargain!
