I Have the power!!!

Finally picked up my black gold 182 today and am about to go for a cruise with my mate in his nighthawk black ctr! The car is lush, a bit of a rattle from the exhaust but im not bothered, all a part of the character I reckon, otherwise I would have gone for a brand that is renowned for build quality! Smooth, averaged 25 mpg already rinsing through the city, kicking it a bit, just getting used to the flexibility of the engine. Cant believe how bright the lights are on it, Ive always wanted HID lamps :) Will post pics this weeked, taken the next 4 days off work to get acquainted to my new baby. MMMMMMmmmmm

only had ours 4 days and i too cant believe how responsive it is - reminds me a bit of a xr2 with twin 40's that i had in the way it responds at about 4000rpm.

glad you're enjoying it - i know we're liking ours!!

well , pretty same up to about
110 (against his civic, easily take him round the bends though, though, mabye i have more confidence in mine then he does in his) really. encountered a new porsche boxster s on a private road the other night exactly the same acceleration if not slightly in front on a rolling start up to 100(in third), then he edged away up to bout120, then past that there was no hope for me. Damn clIO!! I hate to lose!!! Lol, been chilling since then. Had loads of people pull up next to me asking if my high beams are on!? Its hilarious when your driving behind people and they are adjusting their mirrors.

Are you sure it wasn't just a Boxster? As opposed to an 'Boxster S' - He would of gained on you very quickly, and been passed from 60 upwards, imo. 182's are rapid though, and can pretty much stay with non 'S' Boxsters...

trust me, he was surprised too, im not one to bullshit man, i dont even race any normal cars, just want to see how quick this beauty is in relation to real cars! not bad me thinks, i got taken at the end of the day, but up to 100 it was virtually identical. i know that it would prob stand a much better chance against an old boxster.

  182 + Cup
Did you find it 'twitchy' around 120? I gave mine the first real cross country ragging since I had it (January) last night. Mighty impresive on country A/B roads. I'm not a racer normally but a few boy racers tried to keep up round the bends and just fell by the wayside. I think it was the two xorsts that made them come in for a closer look :)

haha, yeah a bit twitchy, but very stable and controllable, you need to feel the car through the brake pedal and steering wheel (road camber etc) just so you can bring it back to sensible speeds safely!

  182 + Cup
Was just a bit surprised at how eager it was to turn in at 120! I was on a dual carriageway at the time so the bend was gradual but the car just wanted to dive in. Excellent. Never had a car that handled like this.

BTW I had a couple of runs against normal boxters in my Cupra and they were always pretty close, and the Clio feels much quicker to 100 than the Leon. The Clio would p!ss the Leon cross country though, easily.

Not sure I'll be taking the Clio much over 120 though, unless on a track or airfield or something.
