was on my way to a cruise tonight, from hull, pulled into birch services... to find my car making wierd noises


it had been quite heavy rain, and wa doing about 70-80

wen i got to the serv station, my car...well.....had that burbble of a subaru... god knows why... i have a big exhaust but it sounded just wrong..

now i cant go above 50-60 at a push... 0-60 in a bout 3 days, and the choke light flashes,

it doesnt do hills at all, nearly stalls, and makes a wierd smell

any ideas, im gutted... big time !

sounds like its in limp mode.....

my guess... ignition coils.

happened to my old clio once it got rather wet, coil pack was fubard by it

you might only need one set... i think there £90 for the 1.2 16v.... but no 100% sure....

well spose i hope it is that...its only got 59k on it... 2002 ....

just got it looking how i want it near enough, spent every last penny just about and this has just took the wind out of my sails .

Coil Pack on the 1.2 16v is about £54 inc VAT

the HT leads are adjoined to the coil pack.


Sounds like you have got water in the ECU connector or into the tb wiring.
Easily done in these clios.

Have a check to see if you can see any water ingress on the wiring. Mite be worth leaving to dry up if there is or spray some WD40

I had major problems with water leaking onto electrical parts on engine bay

i feel the same m8 ive got sorta the same prob thers just no power and spultering sounds like a scooby not good wen u dnt want it to and just basically mooooosed i think am going to need a new coil pack

had this problem on another car i had , thought it was the exhaust then the cat , anyway one of the leads had broken down causing it to run on 3 cylinders , wot a smell as well , mechanic checked by removing leads one at a time and hey presto ...........bought some new leads , wot a bloke

been in to garage this morning, its ignition coil thingys...

and is missfiring on 2 cylinders or summat.... can you tell i dont do engines ?!?!?

basically it is what u guys said and will be back on the road at the end of the day !!! va-va-vooooooooom !!!!!
