I keep thinking of swapping my Phs2 for a Phs1

More and more I see of the Phs1's makes me think I want one.

I love my Monaco to bits, but it just doesnt seem "raw" enough now. I'd really miss the auto xenons and the dark carpets though. Saying that, I think the Phs1 dash is VILE. I know this can be swapped, but I guess thats a LOT of messing around.

Dream spec:

Iceburg Phs1
Black Turinis
lowered 30mm
Black Phs2 carpets and dash
182 Seats (do they fit?)
Stealth zaust
HID's

Mmmmmmm

Guess I'd have to sell my monaco first, as I doubt many on here would want to swap theirs, lol

I went from a 182, the an couple of year later, to a PH1 172 and i don't regret it, i always preferred the look of them.

Why would you want to put 182 seats in? Bar the Renault sport stitching, and the slight colour difference they are the same?

Ph1's are more fun than ph2's, 100%. But also older, parts will need replacing etc. If what you have now is reliable, I'd probably stick with it.

Nicer colour leather though, especially with a black carpet/ph2 dash!

I know what you mean. I think it's just the whole 'different car appeal'. I really want a 200 atm. But then I look at a few PH1's and think s**t they are actually nice. It's like, the 172 and the 200 appeal to me just cos I have a 182 haha.

Only thing that grates me about the Phs1 is the bumper doesnt seem to meet the headlights properly. Its like they'd been in a front end accident....... as they were coming out of the factory.

I like it, but it looks weird

Sell yours, buy mine. Then we're both happy.

(For those that don't know Cookson, he will have changed his mind to something else by tomorrow morning. So don't take this thread too seriously...)

Great cheap cars.

Personally unless you're on a budget I would keep your ph2. I dont think the ph1 clio or any clio this side of the williams could be described as raw. They've still got power steering and generally ABS bar the cup.

I did quite a lot to my ph1 172, it was also an iceburg, 1 of 99....dont think there is 99 left now mind as a few have been crashed and broke.

Here's some pics of my clio at it's best stages IMO

I never regret one mod I did to that car. I do regret selling it then buying it back only to do it all again but hey ho.

A list of mods done were:

Vmaxx Coilovers
Various wheels
ph2 side strips
Dark grey mirror caps and bullets
ph2 rear lights
Silver visions all round
Clear Repeaters
Yellow fogs (laminex)
cup spoiler
ph2 rear bumper
Whiteline Rear anti roll bar
OMP Trecento 300mm steering wheel (great mod if you're tall)
OMP Record 2 Seat
OMP harness
BTB exhaust
ITG panel filter in original ph1 air box

Great fun though but I'd definately keep your climate control and xenons :)

Is that a head unit in there?

with all the effort to weight-save, why leave the stereo?

For music obviously.

There really wasnt much effort at all into saving the big bulky weight items, it was my everyday car so didnt want to have to listen to the road noise

Loved your ph1 on the 2118's Chris, it looked great!

The ph1 is my favourite RS Clio, hence why I used to own one. The only thing that would put me off going back is the age of them. They aren't getting any younger and they also aren't really getting much cheaper now so its not like you can pick one up really cheap and spend money getting it mint, unless you get really lucky.

Another vote for ph1 here. Owned a 182 for a couple of years and I still drive it now (Dad bought it). The ph1 feels so much more fun to drive, more responsive and dare I say it... faster :)
