I loves my Nikon D50

Can I just say a big thanks to all of those who pestered me to get a DSLR even though it might one day bankrupt me (Rich, BluePete etc)

As much as I loved my FZ20 and accept that there are shots that I simply won't be able to afford to get anymore (I had 600mm to play with at RAF Fairford this year, that won't be happening again!) I'm in an entirely new world now, I've still only got the 18-55mm kit lens but it's just so damn flexible, absolutely everything can be adjusted and the speed of the thing is crazy. I live in 'M' mode for everything which is a great learning curve, especially at Castle Combe last Saturday. I can't wait until I actually get a really good lens.

Are there any relatively cheap add-ons/filters etc to play with? Pete mentioned the 50mm f1.8 lens which I really want to get soon, looks to be an awesome piece of kit for about £75. I want something to get properly close for macro stuff without a dedicated lens, any ideas?

Here are my favourites from the 1500 pics I've taken in the two weeks since I got it...

Wow, some great detail there! Has that put me off getting a fz50 lol?

No way, I actually want an FZ10 or 20 to back-up my D50 as there are shots that I simply will never get with the D50 now unless I spend £1000+ on lenses.

nice and sharp are those shots out of the box,or did you tweek them a little?

Just corrected the colours a little by adjusting the levels in Photoshop Elements 3, nothing else. I've never sharpen pictures or anything like that, I don't like the effect it has. I just bin the shot if it isn't pretty much perfect straight from the camera.

I've got the same camera and it's very tasty.

Taken a few decent shots here and there but being a novice, probably not come anywhere to tapping it's potential yet.

I'm having similar thoughts now too :D I'd love a DSLR but I know I'll not have the cash to ake full use of it, doesn't stop me wanting one though.

Similar shots I took with the FZ20 below, trust me you can't go wrong with the FZ50...

Both sets of shots are excellent :)

I reckon it'll take a while before I start taking shots as good as that, I've only ever been used to using a point and click camera.

I only had a 3MP Sony Compact up until last year and rarely used it, it's amazing how quickly you learn when you get the Panasonic FZxx as you have so much zoom at your disposal there are literally hundreds more shots you can take, it's taught me literally everything I know about photography.

Like the spider and the rose.
Just done a big shop on e-bay and got myself a3x telephoto lens, a wide angle lens and 3 macro lenses for my fz30.
All of the same seller. He also sold his fz30 for £220.
Can't wait to get them and have a play.

Here's some pics i took tonight.
