i pulled something on my engine

i was cleaning the engine yesterday and whilst cleaning pulled on a wire...



its underneath where the air filter is and is a stiff wire that has a plastic almost cone looking thing on the end of it....it clipped in a little slot...



can someone post up a tech drawing or tell me what it is?



btw when it wasnt "clipped in" the engine made a slight whistleing noise...

I know what it is, I can picture it now, but cant explain it in words! As long as you clip it back in (theres a catch on mine that goes over the top of it) youll be fine!
The slight whistling noise maybe because of the airfilter. I think that wire has something to do with the airflow meter? Although, on some cars, if you take it off, the car cuts out within seconds of staring up! (Tried taking the airfilter off the BMW 330i, got as far as 2,000rpm on the loud pedal and she cut out!) sh*t myself too! (Dadddd, I broke your car but it was ok once Id re-attached it!)

Are you sure its a wire?

If whistling sound heard probably a feed of the manifold pressure (like vacuum advance for ignition) for something.

So more likely a pipe rather than wire.

If so vacuum advance? Servo brakes? Sensor for ECU? Oil breather?

well its kinda like a stiff plastic wire, could just be a plastic rod with a cone shaped thingy on the end....

any pics mate as im not sure what you mean. it not the clutch cable is it as thats just under the filter?

think he means the flywheel sensor hopefully you aint pulled it out of it housing if u have just put it back
