I think I'm coming back to Renault ...from BMW!

  BMW Z4 3.0i
I'm definitely getting rid of my BMW and getting a clio again. I've now ruled out a cheap phase 2 172 as I'd want something newer and also to have cup appearance. So I was looking at 182's with cup packs. But after a while it looks like the really tidy low milers do fetch that bit extra. So while looking into the £9k price range a thought occurred to me. ...a trophy! They look bloody gorgeous. Have the handling and the seats look great. Plus it looks like they're all coming down to £9k now, there's even one on autotrader for £8800 with the plate "T9 PHY" included, nice!

I do have a question though, what's the seating like for taller drivers with the Recaros. I believe they sit higher up, is this right? I'm 6"3, will I be alright? I only have one gripe about them really, no Xenons. I do miss having xenons.
Oh and one more thing, are they group 17 or 16 like the rest of the clios?

I'm 6 6 and find the seats useless for myself stock are better.

Insurance will be much the same as a nromal 172/182 etc of the save value.

Lee is selling his trophy if your interested best thing is you can do the James Bond impressions as its number 007.

No Zenons woulnd't bother me to much.

The recaros are supposed to be 10mm lower. Not much, if it was me, I wouldnt mind gettting a FF182 and getting aftermarket seats.

Pretty much what I have done, mine feel about 40-50mm lower than stock.

Aftermarket recaros (the same as fitted to the trophy) are a bit lower again than the Renault ones sicne if Renault had used the normal runnes they would have had to re crash test the car as the seats would have been to low to pass as the same car under the NCAP rules.

Edde, why don't you like the Recaros in Renault fitment?

Well they could be lower but I understand why Renault had to do it but mainly because they are completly wrong for me I'm to tall I don't get any advantage from them.

So what specifially is the issue? Do they not leave you with enough headroom or legroom or both?

If height is a problem, take a tip from Rodders and sleep with your legs in the freezer every night or just chop your feet off! Simple!

Cannot you get a 182, with both cup packs on recaro's for about 9g. I'm sure there was 2 black gold ones on here both had less than 25k on the clock. So you're getting the recaro's, the Xenons & The rest of the toys + cup suspension.

They are very nice looking. But I would like the xenons. Plus I'm worried about the height/comfort issue. I've had another look at 182's and I could get one with less than 30k miles on the clock with both cup packs for £8k, maybe less. I think ideally I'll end up with a 182 with both cup packs, on a 55 plate with less than 30,000 miles for £8k. That way I'm basically doing a straight swap money-wise with my car and I get some renault warranty left on the car so there won't be many bills for 6-12 months at least. I'm going out of the country for September-October so I think it'll end up happening late November by the time I get my car sold assuming I make a proper effort to shift it as soon as I get back.
