Car  Whichever has fuel
I feel like crying.

Its been sat in the corner of my unit for the last 4 or so months looking sorry for itself so today I decided to pull my finger out and sort a few little bits in prep for the ring in August.

1) 10mm Spacers for the front (Mis sold them and they dont fit....)

2) New Fuel pump - fitted fine. (Even started first turn of the key!)

3) Adjust coilovers so the car sat flat!

4) Fit new wheels and tyres

5) Fit drivers harness

6) Wash the years worth of dust/oil/crap off of it and it came up mint!!

I had a really nice day just in work on my own, radio on tinkering away, what a lovely day!!!

Then I went to the petrol station, put £30 of super in it and a bottle of redex and went for a really steady drive just to blow the cobwebs out. I finished doing all that and decided to come home. Just turning into my street and there was a faint clunk and the car cut out. As dead as disco. Scared shitless of starting it incase my fears are confirmed. Thankfully the car was just ticking over when it did it.

Waiting for my mate to come round now so we can establish exactly whats what and wether I need to set fire to it and drive it into Bristol docks...... :dapprove:

Feel sick.

Unlucky mate...

Hope its minimal damage..

Could this be a result of it not doing many miles and items perishing/becoming weaker with very infrequent use?

I'm sure it'll get sorted. Can you get it repaired cheaply?

I'm sure it'll get sorted some day and you'll catch that rainbow.

If it is snapped, i'll be getting rid of it. Its pissing me right off now everytime I drive it something goes wrong. The sad thing is its always something thats not been touched!

The cambelt was replaced by Renault only 3000 miles before I bought the doner car!! The fuel pump packed up and thats not something i've ever messed about with and the gearstick snapped and again thats not something i've touched!!! Fcuking thing.

Might want to drive it to the docks first, don't want you getting burnt as well!

Harsh news man, I hope its nothing major :(

I have minstrels, you'll have to deliver the car for a handjob aswell though ;)
Look at this way, by the time your done you will have replaced everything so there wont be anything left to go wrong!

2 Packets of mistrel and a hand job?
Not good mate, has your mate confirmed the cambelt broken?

Oooh a Minstrels/Maltesers war has broken out already. I notice no-one's offering any advance on the handjob.

Hope it's not fubared after all your hard work Daniel :(

^^lol, thats the plan although to be fair i've just tried turning the engine over by hand and its proper tight. I don't want to try too hard incase we do have an issue of valve meeting piston!

Just sat here waiting for matey to turn up biting my nails down to the stubs.

Oh Daniel-son, I feel for you, I got all my snapped bolts out today, so am having a good one sort of, I've even had a few Peroni's, it seems the French want to damn one of us at a time, so whilst yours breaks, mines alive, and vice versa....

If it's dead I want the f1's (as they should have been on mine anyways ;))

My mate just called me to confirm I have put some beers in the fridge and will be down at 9pm.

I told him if the belts deffinately snapped then I will get rid of it and he went right off on one! ''You're a prick, you give up too easily. Its a car, cars break. It will be fine we'll sort it.''

Tick tock tick tock....

Suprised you didn't take the cover off mate, afterall its "only a cambelt cover" ;)

Really hope you get it sorted, as I never did get that passenger ride!

daniel at worst a new block, hopefully its not that bad and will just need a new head but if your really lucky. your fuel pump is fucked

the above wont be that hard to get hold of as you are a CS hero

Really is ashame that.

I was looking forward to seeing it in action, what are you going to take to the ring if the cambelts away mate?

Cheap Phase 1?

whats the score then daniel??
gutted for you if its terminal but im sure you can sort it out either way, look on the bright side!!!!!!!

Well the good news is its running again!!! :D

No idea what it was though. Big strong Jon managed to turn the engine over with his massive arms (I'm clearly weak/too scared) so we knew the belt was all ok. At first the fuel pump wasn't priming, then when we managed to get that going (Bit of WD40 on the plug as it was quite shitted up) it still wouldn't fire up. So took all the plug leads off and soaked all them in WD40 aswell, took the coilpack off and scraped some crap off the terminals. We then checked all the fuses and the battery connections inside the car and once we put it all back together it fired up first time!!

So I think its just because its been sat around for so long things are starting to deteriorate so a big (read as MASSIVE!) service is in order. all consumables will be ordered this week and i've just booked it in next saturday at his garage and we're going to give it a real good going over.

PANIC OVER!!
