I drove one yesterday, and loved it. It's been about four years since I drove the last and I think I forgot how quite how different they are to the porky RS models. So raw.

Cup owners, I'm jealous. Just not of your seats.

Pity they don't have xenon lamps.

Advertising it as mint?

(But only the paintworks mint. The engine was rebuilt by monkeys using bananas and jam sandwich's and it rattles its tits off. But it is mint)

I miss my 172 cup :(

I now have over 100bhp more, double the torque, and an interior 10 x better, yet I'm half as happy...

Dont regret it though, now I know what a drivers car is. Low weight, sharp steering, high revving mayhem.

Next car options: e46 M3, dc5, s2k then get a 172 cup/vts again when it's buying a house time!

I've had mine now for 2 weeks and it is such a brilliant car. Going round corners is grin inducing :D

Do they really drive that differently to a 182 though? Wouldn't of thought there would be a huge difference.

Great cars but they have a habit of indicating right alot ;)

I've only ever driven the two Cups I've owned and a Trophy, never driven the 172 and 182FF so I'm not sure how different they drive. I just presumed there was little difference between them all.

Last time i drove a 182 the difference felt like having a couple of lardy mates in the cup to me

Well it's about 70kg in difference between the 182 and 172 Cup. The air con which is about 30kg is the majority of it (In one item). Turinis or lighter wheels should make a difference too so I don't think it's the weight. Maybe it's those coilovers on yours Chris, makes it handle a bit s**t. ;)

I dont think there is any differnence between a 172 cup and a standard 172, well there isnt as I driven a standard. Not sure of the difference between a 182 and a 172 cup though

I thought you was getting an Evo? After Gaz gave you a passenger ride in his.

Haha Rexe is 27! He can easily insure it! me on the otehr hand, still a minor at 22 so got another few years yet. but could die any day so need my exciting driving 'fix' which could come in the form of a monaco blue sprayed cup... lawl

Yes this thread is right. Just fitted a brand new wheel to mine, took out the seat/vibration mounts, (a good 10mm lower) and gone for a good drive. Bloody awesome machine tbh, and to think i was twitching about getting a CTR. Fail. I drive my sisters 182 (cuppacked) quite often and the thing i notice more is the noise and the more direct feeling of the Cup. It wins.

You need educating!

  Nippy white cup
As above.....even the seats are mainly just a different covering with the insides mostly as with the cup bar lumber iirc

Looks like people are finally getting it Mark ;)

I know, I know.

I'm just gutted I haven't got a spare double garage to buy a couple of minters and get them stored for when the current one finally passes on. By the time I do they'll all be badly modded, or just plain f***ed.

Even now after having one for 3 years from 2004, then a 182 then a 197 and now back to a Cup, i love driving the thing. Sunny day, dry B road = win. Love the things tbh!!!
