i want a iphone..i dunno what to do

ive just got a k850 and continued on my 18mth contract with tmobile.

I really really want a iphone ever since i had a go of one in the apple store in america last month and i know its only out on o2 soon, but what about those ones on ebay? there are some going for £300 ish unlocked and ive seen one on the for sale page on this site. If i can sell my k850 for £250 ish then ill not have to add that much more to it to get a iphone off ebay. I know the camera is better on my k850 but i would prefer a iphone.

What about the thing that is going on at the moment about them being unlocked then you update them and they stop working? thats putting me off buying a one now. Is there a way around this? and will this only be happening cos they are not out over here yet?

Currently an unlocked 1.1.1 iPhone will work fine on tmobile.

Nobody can tell you what will happen when future firmware is announced but you dont have to upgrade until there is a hack. if you want one go ahead.

Personally i think the iphone is terrible.

why not just buy a 4gb memory stick for your SE? then you have a very good phone and dont have to look like an iSheep

Wait till next Friday and see if the UK handset can be easily unlocked. It'll be cheaper than buying on ebay.

i watched the gadject show the other day and they where comparing the i phone with the n95 (nokia)

basically the i phone looks cool but doeesnt do alot.

it only has a 2mb camera for godsake

and you can get the n95 for free now on contract

I wouldn't form many conclusions from the Gadget Show review.

Try one and see what you think of it for yourself. The N95 is a good phone but it still has the clunky symbian os which seems to get slower with every passing year.

The iphone is crap and has the equivalent spec of a phone from 2005. The K850i is much better.

I bought my GF the Iphone and I spent a bit of time using it now... it's a great phone, long battery life, youtube video's intergraed perfectly into the OS... and what an OS ! its so slick for photo's games etc. ! and it integrates perfectly with itunes for all your music needs.

I've even install Linux/SSH on it !geektastic!

It does however have drawbacks...

the camera is ok at best
the built in speakers are ok at best
txt'ing using the on-screen keyboard is ... ok
Edge .. what year is this again ? (forget about decent internet connectivity on anything other than wifi)


All in all I would sum it up as a Fashion phone.. its there to be looked at .. not used My N95 kicks its ass in all departments apart from looks and battery life.

Nothing beats it. Including the rather crap n95.
The OS is uber fast, battery life is awesome. Camera isnt bad either.

thing is, my mrs has the lg prada and i know how annoying it is for texting so thats whats also putting me off the iphone. Like i say i had a go in the apple store in the states and it was amazin as a media tool, it went on the internet and youtube really smoothly, but i dont know if i could use it as a everyday phone for example in a club when you have had a few too many i cant image the touch screen being any good. One thing is for certain though and that is that my k850 is going on ebay tonight, Ive put it back in the box and im using my good old trust w810i. Any offers for it?

my last 3 or 4 phones have had 3g and i have never used it lol.... i really dont care how "old" people think it is... it seems the people who have them love them, people who dont just **** them off lol a bit like the ps3...

3G is not essential, most places I would be while wanting to use the web browser do not have 3G coverage. I don't bother with it and it's disabled on my N73.

I don't think 3G is important, I've survived so far without it. The iPhone will pobably drive me mad due to other limitations but time will tell

I had a look at the n95 8gb last night and it is very nice but nothing as I've had several Nokia symbian phones.

1) Go to france and pick up an ipod, their laws do not permit them to be locked down to a contract

2) Buy a LG viewty. I got mine yesterday with a 4GB memory card, does all that the ipod does and a damn site cheaper.

Spend it putting 3.5G in FFS, HSUPA is the way forward.

French iphones will just have a PAYG option and still be locked to Orange FR

I do not own one but from what I have read this is the case, a itunes account is also requred.

Having said that though I have never tried to update my ipod through any thing other than iTunes. I do remember though that Windows Media Player now has a sync option so it's a possibility.

iPhone is a rubbish idea. Takes ages to write a text, terrible camera, and general lack of phone features that you would expect as standard.

Get a decent handset from an established producer, and then get an iPod Touch (although they are expensive and have a small hard disc).

I was nearly bowled over by the Apple design, but objectively its a pretty poor product. Hopefully the iPhone 2 will fix these errors.
