I want to get a general idea guys.

Of what to expect, I bought a 182 an i was told that the he expects the cambelt has gone, after gettingit home iI pop the bonnet an first thing I noticed was no water in the header tank, then I squeezed a pipe an no water even went into the tank.

Af ter looking around I find the rad bleed valve is missing so I blow into the tank an air an water is getting pushed rou nd the engine, so the guy ran her out of wate, is it possible he's blown the gasket an not seezed the bottom end? Or is it in limp mode? I have to charge theba ttery as it's flat, so I haven't seen the lights on the dashboard yt.

I would fill it with water and charge the battery up first!!! whilst the battery is charging I would remove the engine cover and then the Cambelt cover to see what you have got ie intact bet or dead belt and then go from there!!

I think that's my best way, but as I'm at work I text my dad as it at his, an asked him to put the key in an switch it on an look for a square box with a squiggle through it and he says it has on, so I assume she's in limp mode yeah?

So my question is would she protect her self by sensing no water an go into limp mode to protect the engine?

Check it has oil in it.

then try and turn it over when you have a battery charged (disconnect injectors or coilpack so it doenst try and start)

It's fucked guys I put water in an the water kept going an going till I blow in the header tank an i got to push all the water through looked underneath an water was coming out a join in the exhaust, plus I pulled out the dipstick an had a pretty fountain. Gonna buy a engine an do rthe normal things like belt kits an clutch an HG. Not happy but I had a guess it wasn't going to be easy.

May people have said this but I've built many F7P engines an never had one fault. I intend to buy all the correct timing tools and not rush it, I won't move on to building the rest of the engine till I'm 100% it's correct, I'm a bit OCD like that but seems il fit right in.

F7p doesnt have floating pulleys so totally different ball game really.

its a lot easier to do when the engine is out of the car anyway though.
