Just got me car bk from renault already 2 sell due 2 go 2 dealers 2morow when .. i gets bk in my street slid on ice bk drivers side wheel bumped in 2 the curb causing the wheel no not 2 sit staight it is sticking out a bit...what is this....? its driving funny wheel sticking and going and the abs light cum on with the serv light

any help wud be great cheers

Well from experience the rear is not adjustable so not likely to be suspension/steering arm, as you cant adjust it. The whole back end is completely fixed.

Id probably say youve tw*tted and bent the rear subframe. Was it a nudge or a hevay knock? Got pics? If it is rear subframe, will be expensive no doubt.

In reference to your typing, if you used FULL complete words ratha than dis txt lingo the majority of people might be able to offer some more help.

right then....

i was driving into my street at approx 10-15mph tops ...hit a sheet of ice , try 2 correct the slide but bk end of the car slid round and the bk wheel hit into the curb...got out had a look at the damage and noticed that the bk wheel was sitting slighlty out of place..pointing outwards...

so i take it for a little drive and the bk wheel sticks and then gos when u drive it....also abs light comes on on the dash and also service light...

any help would be great lads cheers...

Take the wire off the abs light. Dont mention the wheel, dealer will walk round it and ask the milage, and make you an offer. Simple.

Hmm at a guess - Rear subframe damage - costly.

[Edit] dont do what Kingy says - its doing things like that that causes other people great huge lumps of hassle and strife with second hand cars - be responsible and fix whatever is shagged matey.

Agree with Roamer...get it fixed as you wouldnt want it in that condition if you were buying it. Im going to sell my BMW soon and much as I dont want to Im going to have to fork out for 4 new tyres as the ones on it a completely bald!

Problem is though Iain, give it a few weeks a newbie will sign up saying, just bought this mk2 172 and the rear wheel was looking funny, went down the road in it to see, rear wheel broke off, huge accident, people hurt - etc etc etc etc.

Surely better to just get it fixed than have the burdon of it on your shoulders.

Unlucky though, easily done. I hit a kerb full on at 40mph with both wheels at once after swerving to avoid someone who pulled out right in front of me. Damaged alloy and burst tyre but fortunately the little vts seems ok with the suspension. I skidded coming into my street yesterday and couldve done what you did. Easily done.

By the way sorry to hijack the thread but ABS.. is it meant to sound awful and grindy when its working? When breaking on snow its easy to get it to come on, I feel the pulsing in the pedal but the sound is awful.

i think ive got it sorted, you give it to dealers and dont mention it, when they take it off you and youve got ur new car get some1 you know to go in to look at the car and mention the wheel! then they will have to fix it! bingo!

sounds like youve bent the rear axle which is all one complete unit so probably a bit exspensive.
