If theres nowhere good to earth it, you could always run that to the negative terminal on the battery.
thats what ive done on mine as it wouldnt earth properly.
NO dont earth it to the battery. If the cars earthing point developed a fault ie High resistance due to corrosion, you would be using the ICE as a return path for the starter motor. That would be nice. 330 amps through a Pioneer head unit...Toasty !
If its a 3 series car there are a number of body earth points up above the rear wheel arches under the back seat squab. (lots of brown wires)
