idles high

when im driving and i put my foot on the clutch to say stop at a junction it revs real high but if i blip the throttle the revs drop to what they should be at? any ideas as it sounds like im a proper bad driver haha

is it a ph 1? if so throttle cables can stick.

its an X reg sport?
throttle cable was replaced just before i had it
