As above. I'm trying to diagnose a fault and am almost out of ideas.

whats the fault
Resonating/vibrating @ 5k+, mainly in 2nd.

It's not a consant noise/vibration with the rev's, more like a bearing that can't keep pace.

It can be felt though the pedals and bulkhead.

I've changed the o/s driveshaft as the CV was fooked and the gearbox oil. There were only minute shards of metal in the gearbox oil but it was black.

cant see it being gearbox related,, poss N/S shaft imbalanced??

things like warped discs could do that too,, real guess work without seeing it though

That's where i'm up to, guess work.

Could a wheel bearing cause this sort of issue? When Undoing my o/s hub nut, I had to use a 400lb air gun as a 250 wouldn't suffice.

I know the setting is 206/207 which I'm sure I did myself but the o/s was stupidly tight.

Thanks for the input BTW Ditz.

you cant really go by how tight it was to undo as you have to account for rust/the inital crack as it were

yeah wheelbearing would do it.. put it on axle stands and run it up in 1st then put it in neutral and switch if off.. youl need a mate to see if you are getting vibrations up the suspension legs

Good test, never tried that. Thanks.

hold a boiled egg out of the window whislt driving in 4th gear at a constant 40mph.

If the you drop the egg then the bearings are shagged.
