If You had £700 to spend on suspension what would you do?

  Clio 172 phase 1
As per title £700 is about my justifiable limit really..... the car is fast road/ odd track day inspired so opinions and reasons why please nothing stupid and being lowered isnt a massive factor im after good handling etc..

Refresh all std components - ball joints etc. Cup shocks and Sportline/Cooksports with camber bolts. Perfectly adequate for track days and still comfortable for the road. I do roughly 12k road miles and about 10 TDs per year and more than happy with mine for both uses. Perfect compromise IMO.

Im liking the sound of refreshing the standard components and using cooksport springs as they seem to be a massive hit! ... also where I work I have access to trade prices on the standard items :) would any one recommend using solid top mounts or standard ones and a strutbrace ? trophy dampers would be nice :)

This is exactly what I'm going to be undertaking, these cars handle well but they are all old and need bits replacing. I also do not want coilovers for every day use tbh

Ive got the whiteline on atm tis a nice piece of kit :) just mines in need of new suspension now... ive thought about coilies but Im not after decking it and on the condition of these roads i think coilovers would do my back in... ill get onto renault tomo and see about supplying the shop direct :) and cooksport are only over the bridge from me so happy days :)

Seems that coilies just die on our roads, fine if it's purely a track car but not for road use, as far as I can see generally.

Not always Adam mate, my Bilstein B14s have been on for 18k miles and a fair few trackdays and they are still fine and dandy (touch wood :)).

OP - Bilstein B14s get my vote too. Aswell as full suspension bits and bobs refresh.

Agree fully with northloop and others

I've had eibach/bilstein/kw v2's - the KW's are superb for track BUT by far the best thing I've one was refresh all the bushes and tie rods

New arb bushes, wishbone bushes (powerflex), new bottom ball joints, inner tie rods, outer tie rods
Pure motorsport solid top mounts with strut brace
Cooksport or eibach springs on new cup shock absorbers
Whiteline ARB

It'll be like a little go kart :)
Oh and get the tracking re-done with a touch of tow out

I know not always Oli, note my use of the word generally lol.;) Think you've been lucky (at least on the suspension front anyway)

i didnt think so, but i see people on here that recommend cup shocks on here ..... if they purchased them and they didnt fit i dont think they would be happy lol
