Im buying a Clio 172 :D

Hey guys, ive just put a deposit down on this car on ebay:

He's gona give it to me for 4900, which seems like a really good deal, can anyone tell me what they think its worth?

Also, im goin to look at it this wkend b4 i buy it, is there anything i should look out for?

Well the guy said on the phone he has had it for nearly a year, and the dealership he bought it from must have been on it. so i guess it had 4 owners in the first 4 years.

It doesnt bother me much, im more interested in the mileage. any problems it may have had in the beginning must have been sorted by now, especially with the way he has been dealing with the dealership!!

well he's been honest with the description & if it has had all the workdone, then mechanically it should be ok.
Could be an import with all those owners?
Registered in country of origin, brought over here, registered by garage, then registered by 1st actual owner, etc...

I'd be more worried about the number of owners then the milleage, my MK2 172's now on 53K and she runs fine.

Why did all the previous owners only keep it for such short periods of time?

He's only kept it for a short time cos it's givin his wife a bad back, but ill definatly find out what i can about its previous life from him. ill ask him about it maybe bein an import, but he's been very candid so far, and went on for ages on the phone about the smallest things. he's obviously a very merticulous person

re the mileage, i was orginally looking for an unmodified ph1 under 60k for about 4 - 4.5, but this looks like too good a deal to turn down. ive only put down 50quid so i could still walk if i dont like the look of it

Why does everyone panic about this like warranties and mileage.

My Oct 2002 172 has had 4/5 owners and it really doesn't worry me in the slightest..car is mint and runs great.

Private lease company, bought for guy.
Same guy in his name when he ended the lease agreement and transferred to himself.
