Immobilizer question

If I lock my car using the key rather than the certral locking. Does it still enable the immobilzer?

Or does this only come on when you use the central locking?

I would have thought it would still work, i think immobilisers are run by the key not the central locking.

the Immobilizer turns itself on 3 seconds after you take the key out of the barrell.nothing to do with locking the doors
