Impreza Hatch Sti

Very nice, how was the blobeye STI as a daily? Think they look really nice, and the engine/box combo seems sweet (super short ratios on that 6-speed?!) Looking at possibly getting one next year, was initially thinking the WRX but the STI really seems a whole lot more car for ~£2-3k more. Any problems to be wary of, or anything likely to cause high running costs?

My WRX blobeye wagon is running decent enough power and is my daily drive only get low 20mpg.
work commute is 23miles total each day and i average out about £60-£70 of Optimax a week.

Doesnt make a bit of difference if you buy a standard model or a mildly tuned Impreza PLEASE budget in a Remap to make sure everything is safe and no knocking is present and the engine is doing its best, will save you thousands of £££ later down the road.

It was a very easy going daily, the 6 speed box is beautiful to use very smooth the JDM box that is fitted to Scotts is shorter still but more suited for track,

personally I would go STI just for the box, My dad had a WRX -S and that was 5 speed and would sit as 4k rpm at 80mph where as mine sits at 2,900rpm

if you want DCCD driver controlled centre diff you will need a few more K as they are the model to have IMO they hold there value

I used to get 14-15 MPG when it was on 380hp

What model was the WRX-S, a hawkeye? Was looking at specs of wrx/stis the other night and from what I read the 5th gear in the blob/hawk WRX 5-speed was infact very similar but slightly longer than the 6th gear in sti blob, which doesnt tally up to you what you've just said? Maybe the info on ratios I was reading was wrong.

I remember looking at the ratios and it made the WRX look a bit tame when comparing with the STI ratios, the 3rd gear STI was not much longer than 2nd gear WRX, and so on.

The WRX-S was a hatchback 2010 plate

I cant see them fitting a different box to the S and the WRX so I'm unsure on the figures you have found, I take gear ratios online with a pinch of salt ill look in my book later that has it for all models

Maybe the blobeye had different ratios to the hatchback, would be more than likely. That 2.9k at 80 is in your new hatch?

Goodridge hoses, 5.1 fluid and you stop on a penny out on track. Day to day town driving i found them a bit hit and miss sometimes they were great other times there was a bit of brake fade.
Stripping my impreza down at the moment ready for yet another engine rebuild and its going to get put in a old skool beetle :)

You know when Evos have got under your skin when you see ropey examples and you still get that 'pang' of wanting it!

Oh how I'd love to be able to get a minty Scotia White VI in my mitts again...
