Hi all,
dont want to sound thick but i have just done my cam belt and aux belt kits and i removed my bumper and slam panel.
I have also sent both the lower and upper inlet manifolds away to be matched as well which i have not got back yet.
Can i fit the front end back up, bumper, slam panel, wheel arch liners etc... and then fit the inlets back when i get them or is it best done with the front still in bits?

Cheers scott.

it can be done with the front end fitted back up but it will be easyer with less stuff in the way so i wouldnt bother till you can do it all in one go.

Drove up to Bens from Essex on the 26th July, i own my own company so was going to have a labour trade off. He was going to do my inlets now and then my cylinder head mods over the winter and i was going to do all of the welding work on his MK1 fiesta XR2.
I called him last week on monday and he told me he had posted them, when they did not turn up by wednesday i called again and said i needed them before the bank hol weekend which again they have not turned up.
Tryed again today and left a message saying that if they have not been done yet then dont bother i need them back as i wanted to take the car to Tracks this sunday, still no joy with him so thats why i asked if i could put anything else back on the car.

Cheers for the heads up lads, maybe i should have asked before hand.....lol

Thats not a problem tbh, just want them back now bought the car 4 months ago and only done 300 miles in it. Been off the road for 5 weeks now while i was doing the belts and a few other bits

inlets from factory can be very poorly ported/machined , some more machining to "match" them to head + eachother can bring up to a shocking 10+ hp (recorded in one case!)

generally when having an early RS it is one of the first mods to do

  clio rs 2000
are you serious franx 10 hp is a big value
i have spare manifolds and started to porting them not only the entries but also inside of them
but if i gain 5 hp i will be happy

I bet they've not been touched yet LOL

Good luck, that is all.

I managed to get hold of Ben 1st thing this morning and told him how un happy i was and how let down i felt (well words to that effect ) He said that they where sitting there done and that he would be comming down to Essex later on today, i said to him that i would be leaving work at 12.30 and would drive up to get them as there was no way i was being let down again.
He swore that he would not let me down and was very sorry for the problems i had, sure enough he call me when he was leaving and also when he got to the M25 he even called when he got stuck in a bit of traffic. We meet on the A13 just pass Lakeside where he gave me my inlets and also the RS lower which he had matched and a new set of Renault gaskets.
Just got in from putting the inlets back on and got the car running, all thats left to do is to fit the front end back up and give it a bloody good clean......

Thanks lads for the heads up but in the end of a long wait i am happy....

Bloody hell! Congratulations on getting them back finished!
Cheers for that if you met me then you will know why, i dont take getting messed about very lightly  and lets also say the phone call was a bit heated from my end anyway but its all cool now......:) I can use my car and i will get him to do the cylinder head and the re map over the winter months when he has the time to get on with it.
Ben is a cool guy and seems to be very clever at what he does, but just like me he is a little bit slow but the job will be done right and to a high standard. I think he also takes on far to much work and then ends up running around like a nutter...

Cheers again

Scott.

You will definately be happy , it's a "first" mod to do when having an RS
You will probably notice a more free-revving enginebehaviour, driveability improved

Glad you got them sorted mate, just needed a bit of a kick in the right direction

Yes so am i tbh, got the car running at 10 last night, so just about to go and finish putting the rest of it back together.
The "kick" was almost a big size 10.....;) but i am now looking forward to the head work and re map he is going to do over the winter months, Bens a nice chat and was very very sorry for the messing so i should not think this will happen again to me..

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Did you get any pics of the ports before they went on? Heard good things about the AW inlet sets.

  Fiesta ST-3
Does anyone know someone who does inlet matching in Wales? Other than Craig at APD. Been there, done that and got the t-shirt. Thanks.

Sorry i did not, when i took them to Ben he showed me the size differance between my PH1 and the later "RS" lower inlet which was about 4mm bigger on each port and this is the one i now have. He has still opened it up to meet the same size as the gasket i have got the car back together and took it out for a quick blast, car feels great and i am very happy..
