Hi,

I want to buy a tom tom one, but I dont want to have to run the cable to the lighter socket as it will look messy.

Is there anyway you can power the thing in car without wires going every were.

Cheers.

The only thing you can do is route the power cable where you can't see it. There's no other way to get power to it, as wireless power hasn't been released yet unfortunately :(

Depending on model you can take the dash top of and hide/route the cable under that and hardwire it of the back of the cigarette lighter.

HAS on the forum had a great set up for his Tom Tom by using the top cubby hole on the dash, he made a pod for the base to sit into and ran the cable through the dash behind the head unit and down near the gear leaver.

Once you haev the cable near the gear leaver all you need to do is where the Ciggi lighter is, disconnect the cable that sits under the lighter pod, then with the adaptor on the TOM TOM, you will need to cut it off and rewire the cable to the Ciggi Light wiring. This means that not only will the tom tom work when the ignition is on, but it is all hidden away when you take the unit out.
