Insurance and turbo conversions

  Mk2 Golf GTI

Ive heard a rumour that there are some insurance companies that wont increase your premium if engine size is not increased? Is this b****cks because the conversion in question will boost the car from 150bhp to 225bhp. if it is true, who are they?!

Who are the other decent companies to deal with turbo conversions for 20 year olds? I dont think HIC are good for me personally as they quoted me £1900 on a 1.2 clio compared to £1200 from renault.

Ive had a £1200 quote on the car itself but that was with no modifications through tescos. They dont take kindly to induction kits, let alone turbos!

Liverpool Victoria mate.

Dont charge for any mods, only engine transplants.
I done a fair few mods, all declared, you just inform them and keep photos for proof and presto!

By the way, Im insured on my 1.2 for £1000.
Also try adding a 2nd femal driver who has been driving for a while. Dropped my quote by £250! Muahahaha!

By the way, how do you expect to turbo a 1.2? Seen a few topics regarding this and doesnt seem worth it at all.

Hi, I heard over on RSC that liverpool victoria were stopping to insure modded cars. People on RSC were having to change after they gave a 10 day no warning.

I might be wrong but I also noticed on the terms and conditions this :

We cannot insure ....Cars which have performance enhancing modifications!

Think that means no to an upgrade from them.
