insurance difference between 172 and 182

Car  Mk4 .:R32
I wanted a 182 for ages, but found a 172 so I got excited and just bought it. I really like the wheels exhaust etc on the 182, and I've found a 182 cup not far from me for £7700 at a garage. So I think I'm going to see if he will give me a good price for mine plus some cash. I was just wondering what the difference in insurance will be?

What the point, you have a Flame red 172? Best colour there is.

I was only thinking it would be more due to the fact it's worth more? I would say to the insurance company its worth the same as my 172 but if I wrote it off they wouldn't give me much for it. Might ring the garage now and see what they say about part ex ing my 172 :) It would be good to get a 182, defo get a quality after market exhaust then

I got an insurance quote from my current insurer for 500 more than my 172. what the?? They are the same insurance group and a similar age. Thats ridiculous

Just added my dad as a named driver (as he wil drive it too sometimes ;)) and it brought it down £400. Insurance companies are weird

I was thinkin about that Chris, but I can get a good price for mine cos its in mint condition with very low mileage for its age. I really fancy gettin the 182 cup and gettin a decent miltek exhaust and remap. I like my flame red but it looks the nads in the garage forecourt.

Plus I could do with cruise control, I use the motoresy everyday :)

The difference on my insurance, having just gone from a 172 to 182 is 80 quid for the remaining five months.

Was it a good move mate, going from 172 to 182. It's prob gonna cost me 1200 plus mine in part ex, but I need new alloys and was planning on getting a new exhaust and remap too, so that would have costed me about 1200 anyways

was definitely a good move. :) Gone from 179bhp to at least 250+ ;)

I wouldnt go from standard 172 to standard 182 though, just not enough differences between the cars. Unless you got a lob on for a particular colour?

Turbo then? Bet thats well slow :S I wanted a 182 to start with I just didnt wait til the right one came along. Think I will look into how much they will give me for mine to see if it's worth while.

If they give you anything more than 6500 rip their hand off.

Haha they wont give me that. I would guess they will offer around 6k, cos no doubt they will try to re-sell it 7k. I don't wanna part with more that 1200

i am only twenty one and had a x reg 172 then about 6 months ago got a 182 and my insurance went down about £300, thats with elephant.

Thats good andy. I don't really want to change my insurer until I'm due to re new my policy (december), cos you end up losing money. I paid for the year you see!!
