Insurance doesnt make sense!

I am currently looking at insurance for various cars as I am going to change cars this September. I am pretty sure I will end up with a 197 but if work goes better than I am allowing for I could end up with something a bit more special So recently I have been running quotes for everything from the 197 to Porsche Boxster What doesnt make sense is these results:

My Punto - £280
197 - £582.75
Clio V6 (either ph) - wont quote
Audi S3 - £715.05
Nissan 350z - Wont Quote
Porsche Boxster - Wont quote
New Shape WRX - Wont quote

Now I will admit, I have only looked at Directline as I always use them as a measuring stick, but I dont understand why they are giving such a brilliant quote on the S3 but wont quote on the V6 or the WRX (not STi) both of which are lesser cars!

There are so many different factors that the different insurers use to construct a quote it makes it impossible to predict any kind of quote.

If you're looking for a yardstick to see how the different insurers measure up i'd head over to moneysupermarket.com.
Doesn't take long and has always got me a cracking quote. (Though once you've got the quote from them if you contact the insurer directly, i've found you can sometimes get it even cheaper, making for an absolute bargain!)

errr.... moneysupermarket.com just gave a best quote of £1200 on a 197... dont think they will make a good yardstick...
