Insurance on a 182 cup

  Renault Clio 182
Hi guys I've had a quick search and can't find a recent post so sorry if this is covered elsewhere.
My insurance is due in the next couple of weeks which companies tend to be the cheapest for a clio 182 cup. I've tried compare the market etc so have a rough idea but wondering if there is a specialist you all use. When I had my subarus I always used Keith micheals, any help gratefully received.

We have a specialise scheme for the Cliosport models which can carter for modifications and even offers track cover.

If you wanted to drop me a PM with your contact details i could run a quote through for you personally. As well as a discount for Cliosport members if you cover less than 7500 miles a year you would also get a reduced miles discount which can lead to some very good premiums.

here is a link to our forum section showing some of the feedback we get from customers http://www.cliosport.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?180-Greenlight

Why have the modified insurance companies not got themselves online yet, i spent all day calling different companies, some called me back which is nice, most appeared clueless, for example i have a cat back stainless steal exhaust, but there appears a misunderstanding, the insurance companies seem to imagine every modification is made to increase BHP, whereas most owners are just replacing rusty parts on 10 year old cars, or trying to make cars individual, i don't have to change my house insurance when i fit new carpets or fit a kitchen. get a grip modified car insurance, and get yourselves a decent online system so i don't need to talk to idiots anymore. it 2013 not 1984

"because tailor made to suit your needs and lowest price..." blah de blah

I pay £250 for my Cup with Yourcover (Allianz) with no premium for a stainless catback. None of the above companies can beat that, as they are brokers with big profit margins

It is almost impossible to have a one size fits all quotation device for modified car insurance. Quite simply, it requires a human touch, especially when highly modified.

if i ran an insurance company, i would have a massive list of modification online, say, carbon wrap, carbon bonnet, carbon mirrors, stainless steel exhaust full, or half, brakes drilled, brakes grooved, the same way my asda shopping works, that way customers would tick each box which was applicable, the computer programme then would increase premiums as a percentage of ticked boxes, customers would feel reassured by the openness, and a telephone operators wages would be removed from my quote. simply ask this forum of every mod they can think off and compose a list.
in fact it starts here,
carbon fibre bonnet,
cat back stainless steel exhaust
red line pads
stickers (GB sticker)
clio badges removed

who's next

Quite quickly, the premium is loaded far more than it should be because every tick box is marked. It is easy for most minor mods like you mention above, not so easy when you are dealing with highly modified performance cars. The spec list on my own weekend toy is 3 pages of A4, if I enter all of that into a computer quotation device it will simply s**t the bed.
