Insurance question for track only car

Hi guys, in the past month or so, Ive been really considering in a year or so when money allows, buying a cheap 172 for track days.

Now it wont be used on the roads, and will be garaged away, and trailored to the track.

Would I need any insurance to track the car?

Do you need normal road insurance to take a car on the track?

Thanks.

Matt.

You may find it easier to have a road insurance policy for the track car than having to trailer it to each trackday..

Pointless if its not going on the road. Most policies to cover you on track would have a £1k excess, if you bin it just take it on the chin

If it's just for track, don't get a 1*2. Plenty better and cheaper options out there.

Only thing that puts me off a VTS is the rear torsion bar, had them in the past, and its hard to get them low without looking ultra chav...

Is yours lowered much Dave at the back?

Mine was lowered -45mm all round on 240mm length, 155lb Faulkner springs with Bilstein B8's all round. It sat much higher at the back though due to the lack of weight + thats the natural stance which i didnt want to mess about with!!

I built it, to a VERY high spec, for £2.4k. Considerably cheaper than it would have cost to do a clio to the same level :star:

With the upper/lower strut braces & cage the shell was as stiff as hell, would tripod for England:

One of the only jobs I refuse to undertake, as it's a complete pig.

Luckily, there are plenty of people on the 106/Saxo forum's who'll do the torsion bar for £50-75.

The Sexo will live again, in slightly more standard guise, fear not.
