insurance void , any help please ?

  Golf TDI
basically i have had my clio dynamique since september and i am insured with direct line . so far i have done quite a few things on the inside of my car e.g new headunit , sub and amp etc and on the outside i have had my back 3 windows tinted , k and n air filter fitted and have a peco exhaust coming pretty soon. it was only the other day when my dad realised direct line dont accept any mods to your car until you are 25 !!! so im a bit fucked . tbh its my fault and i really should have looked into it before doing anything i know. so im now looking at either changing insurance companys right away , or hoping i dpnt ever have any accidents until its up for renewal then change ( but i really dont wanna do that ! ) has anyone got any insurance companys that are good with young drivers and modifying ? if any one can help i would be grateful . thanks .

Adrian flux were good with me. A lot of companies won't touch you, another to try is admiral/elephant/bell.

Tbh thats the first thing you ask if you plan on modding your car! Brentacre Insurance offer unlimited mods, not including serious engine modification tho. Their number is 01792650933.

virgin they are direct line bassically but accept mods so the price wont differ to much. I even put a bigger engine in my 1.2 to make it a 1.4 and it only cost £15 a year more!!

Quinn Direct, they dont care about any mods unless it's engine related!

Have a look as they are pretty good with young drivers as well.

I useto work for direct line, if you crash your car with those mods, they will cancel your insurance from thestart date and you will have to cover repair costs yourself, including anyone else you hit. You could also end up been reported for no insurance. You may aswell not be insured mate. Dont drive your car until you remove the mods, or change insurance company.

Personally id just remove the induction kit and tints...audio will befine

1.4 is no faster than the 1.2, wouldnt notice any difference at all until motorway speeds. Puzzling!

As for the insurance, you could just remove all your mods, keep them in the garage, get insured next year with someone mod friendly, and then refit at renewal time...

stupid question but...what if he was to say the car came with say tints if it ever came under dispute? would he still get shafted?

  Megane Trophy #147
they did exactly the same to me and i went mad i asked them when i took the policy out and they said it would be fine to have mods but they shafted me so went to adrian flux and got it £200 cheaper with all mods declared

If its 25 , then depends how old you are now, if you're 24 then just be REALLY careful, but it its like more than a years difference, then I'd reconsider my options. imo anyway

the advice in this thread is disgusting! If he said, I'm driving with no insurance policy because it'll be cheaper in a weeks time after my brithday or any other excuse you would all be flaming him!

Only difference with this is he is paying for something completely worthless so throwing money away!

have you driven a 1.2 and 1.4? there is a lot of difference not just at motorway speeds.
