Insurance: What should I be paying, and who with?

  Clio 200 Cup
Im 25 with 7 years NCB and no convictions. I drive an unmodified 172 Cup 10'000 miles a year and its garaged. Fully Comp with Protected no claims.

Any ideas? I think Direct Line are trying to lift my leg at £750 renewal (it was £580 last year ffs!)

Im grateful for any suggestions,

Kev

The cup does pull a premium over normal 172's, due to the lack of abs, have you tried any of the admiral group(bell, elephant etc)?

A quick FYI, I found a lot of places charge more for keeping the car in the garage. I'm with Elephant, and the cheapest place for me to keep the car in on the street. Drive and garage cost about £30 and £40 more.

I have no idea but he's right lol, my online quote just dropped by £20 when i changed from driveway to street.
Edit: the price went UP £150 if i said the car was stored in a garage!

I've tried Admiral, Bell and Elephant and they all want around £650. Seems a bit sharp to me - I feel like Im being raped!

As Chris says, not got a bloody clue. I've never bothered to ask. Don't really know how things would stand if I made a claim and my car was in the drive at the time, which it sometimes is.

well by that logic, next time i do a quote i will tell them there is no alarm and the keys will be left in it on the street and it should be really cheap!
how can it be better on the street than in a secure garage?? lol

Your postcode shouldnt have anything to do with it, I think its just the fact prices are getting higher. Within a year mine has gone up 1100 :(

On a side note, have you seen the black Vee around skipton? P0rn :)

I have, pure sex, there's also a blue one around Skipton too!

As for the street being cheaper thing, only seems to be the case with the admiral group. Logic behind it is the thieves are less likely to know which house the keys are in if its on the street. Whereas in your garage or drive they know which house to target.

Seems steep to me as well. I got Admiral quoted £640 fully comp, 0 ncb, £2500 claim, and exhaust, coilovers, brakes declared. Mileage and adding a parent can make a big difference to the quote as well.

Im now insured through Adrian Flux for £540.

Fully Comp with protected NCB. £300 excess. No mods and 5k miles (I walk to work)

I thought that was fairly good :)
