Insurance

hi all,

im 17 got a 99 S 1.2 rt and ive done my pass plus. Just got alloys and a bodykit but the kits not fitted yet. My insurance is up in a few months so i thought i would get some quotes. rang five or six companies and they either wouldnt insure me at all or quoted around £3500. I also included the mods im planning on doing. Lowering, exhaust, tints, colour coding. ive herd some companies will just insure you for the standard car and not for any modz. Any thoughts or insurance companies greatly recieved.

cheers, ja.

Stealth 1.2,

I would contact Privilige or Tesco insurance to be quite honest... The number for privilige which i use is: 08701256619. I have a 172 Sport, 02 model, its lowered, 17s, induction, chip, exhaust, ECU tamper, stereo... they know all of this. I pay £792 fully comp. Im 25 with 5 years no claims. But i would seriously try one of these. Sorry dont have number for Tesco. You can get it off the web. Oh and a piece of advice. Dont try and get a quote from the site as its sh*te. Give them a call.

i dont think HIC will insure you as your not 19 mate, my first insurance company was tescos, they were ok but charged $$$ for mods.

Try Liverpool Victoria or Adrian Flux.

yeah i rang HIC, they gave me a good quote then they mentioned i had to be 19. Rang adrian flux, they said i was looking at around 3-3.5 grand. My best quote so far is £2017 with coop (CIS) and i can do anything to the car as long as it doesnt make the car go any faster, thats also providing i do pass plus. Just rang privilige but they said they couldnt beat £2017. Any other numbers or suggestions greatly recieved.

cheers, ja

i think that tescos generally does do the best deals for younger drivers, if you can try and talk to an underwriter as they are the people who can make the decisions, i managed to get insured on my Lancer Evo II when i was 19 in this way, i think that would would be looking at about 2k for whatever car you drive, but as ever the best advice i suppose is just to keep ringing round all the different companies

Just got mine from Hy Performance. Im 22, been driving for 4 years. got TPFT for £535 with 1 yrs NCB, no accidents, convictions etc on a 1.4 clio Sport 1997. Not bad compared to last year which was £999!!! Asked about an upgrade to a vavler and they quoted me £800. Not that much extra for engine mods aswell. Very good service, all docs received within 1 day.
