Hi guys,
Advice appreciated here......
I have seen what looks to be a decent 172 Cup for sale however i spoke to the seller today and it turns out the car isn't reading the actual mileage. A few years back the car had a fault with the dials and they were replaced by Renault and there is a receipt to confirm this so the mileage is less than the actual mileage on the engine, box and shell. Furthermore, the cambelt was changed back in 2011 along with the dephaser however that was also the last time it was serviced. The car has covered 14k since the work was carried out and is obviously due a service now which i dont mind paying as there is a decent specialist very local to me. I would have expected Renault to have reset the new dials to correspond with the actual mileage. The dealer stated there was a ticking sound coming from the dials hence why they were replaced by Renault.
I am in two minds what to do really, should i make an appointment to view it or do i walk away and anticipate another nice 172 Cup pops up soon. The dealer was quite honest and i dont think he was trying to take the mick. The car is up for 3k so it is top money for an OEM 172 Cup. The car has covered 52k miles and is a 2004 registered example.
Thoughts and comments welcome.
