Ok, maps isn't great - but I can just about live with that though tear-filled eyes.
The fact that my iPhone 4 now 'can only play sound over AirPlay' however, is unbelievebly s**t. I really hope its not the same on my iPad.

There was a contract for Google things (Maps, YT & Search) on iOS which expired this year.
Apple either didn't want Google Maps anymore (likely), wanted a lot of money from Google (likely) or Google wanted to escape (unlikely)
Maps need user data so it'll get better with time but that doesn't help anyone right now.

If I record a quick vid (ipad3) then I'm still able to stream it to my ATV3.
There's no YouTube app for iPad yet?

Apple have already done the damage, I can't believe that they've stuck their heads so far into the sand with their "war with google" that they didn't realise that their own offering was, and lets be gentle here, crap.
It's going to take them years to get a dataset that is even close to google today.

If they release an App, I would also expect them to release a set of developer libraries that mimic the built in API for maps. That way, app developers could simply restore google maps in their applications by including a different header and library, basically they'd have to do nothing.
If google do play saviour and they do indeed bring out a library for developers, expect Apples Maps to shortly follow the path of Ping.
More I look at it, the more of a Win/Win it is for google.

I can now watch videos on the iPhone like before; but when I select my Apple TV so I can watch it on there instead I get a 'your device can only play sound over AirPlay' message pop up.
It thankfully appears to be as normal on the iPad, but there's no YouTube app yet afaik.
Unless I'm doing something wrong, this is crap.

It's silly. When someone is so far better than what you can do/achieve at the time, then don't try.

Does that give the navigation? You could push a button on maps before and it'd tell you what way you were facing?
I get the same thing when trying to AirPlay videos from YouTube app to Apple TV. Jesus, is this actually a GM version or still a beta!!?

OMGZzzz, the world is ending. I do have to laugh! Come on guys it's a map that you got for free in the first place, now you'll just have to buy another one of maybe not the same quality but that works.

I'd expect the maps to improve quality/functionality over time.
It wasn't that long ago, that Google introduced StreetView - That took months/years before they covered more than just London - My area wasn't on there for months after most places were updated.
In iOS 6, I like the 3D for London - is it animated, as opposed to photographs?

They made a big thing of these new maps and sky view etc at launch only for it to turn out like it has.
First time I have known apple to make such a mistake. Ignoring the fancy 3D stuff, the basic navigation and mapping is rubbish.

Passbook.... Click on App Store and it doesn't connect. It seems like there's no apps for it yet anyway? Kind of a waste to introduce it now?

Hate the new colour scheme.
Not keen on the new look App Store, it's data heavy and takes too long to load.
But it is faster. The new lost mode on find my iPhone is genius. Like the do no disturb. Send more photos is handy as Is the shared streams.

So you didn't pay £500 for google maps then? You paid it for a phone. I know the maps were ideal but it's hardly the end of civilisation that you have to use the web page so to speak!
