iphone internet help

ive got an unlocked iphone and ive put my vodafone simcard in andwhen i want to use the internet on it says

could not activate cellular data network you are not subscribed to a cellular data service?


what does that mean in english and how do i get around it

You need to put in the following settings;

Homepage: http://live.vodafone.com
APN address: wap.vodafone.co.uk (Contract)
Gateway (IP) address: 212.183.137.12
Username: wap
Password: wap
Session type: Continuous / permanent
Authentication: Normal
Security: Off
Port number: 8799
