Is it possible to..

.. change a mk2 ph1 interior for a mk2 ph2 interior as a like for like swap?

In particular I'm thinking about the positions of the window switches in the front. Could the wires in my phase 1 be manipulated to fit a phase 2 interior? Secondly are all the clips, seat attachments and shapes etc. exactly the same?

The interior of my car is looking severly dated so I'm hoping to pick up a new one. I know frosty1234 has an interior for sale, does anybody else?

Cheers,
Ian

Dash is totally different shape wise so that would need changing to match the door cards!
I think basically you'd need the complete loom which IMO is not worthwhile doing.

mattblack has done this when he was building the clio TT iiRC.

That car used to be Ph1, it's now completely Ph2 including front end.

Hmm is that for sure? Which bit in particular, the window switches or the shape of the panels, or just in general? Really would love to be able to do this!

Ok, few more questions then. Did the ph1 dash ever come in black? Would a ph2 steering wheel fit a ph1? I'm thinking of matching the colour of the ph2 door cards with a standard ph1 dash.

For example with Frosty1234's interior it would be the seats and door cards that I would be replacing and hopefully find a black dash top to match.

It's the dash profile I refer to, if you changed the door cards the dash edge wouldn't match up where it meets the door.

no the ph2 door cards wont fit with a ph1 dash

Ah right sorry, I see. Well that's a bit of a pain then. May just have to replace the seats by the sounds of things.

Edit: Are the interior door handles and speaker grilles the same, or do the speaker grilles change shape because of the switches?

yeah, but its easy doing it that way,,

infact he had to change the dash really, as the running gear and engine/dash looms came from a ph2 cup.

so it was just a case of plug in and bolt it in where as if he'd of kept the ph1 dash it would have been nightmare wiring.

same thing with this question it can be done but the easy way to do it would require changing the dash loom which would need the matching engine loom and management and thinking about it all the rest of the looms in the car because it runs a uch
