Is It Possible ?

Got £1K to spend on a new car as our golf (Daily Driver) is starting to give up the ghost but I'm wondering if it is possible to get a PH1 172 with under 100K on the clock for this amount ?

I have been hunting through ebay, gumtree and piston heads. The only thing with this is it must be running and in a semi decent condition with MOT.

You will be very lucky marc although bargains do pop up every now and again.

I do recall seeing loads of clios at one stage going for pennys (all PH1's) but now there is either none or they are £1500+

Been looking at other cars like 206 GTi's and the Mrs likes Ford Puma's but if i can get a PH1 172 then i will take a PH1

Yeah when I was selling my ph1 they were going really cheap but they seem to have levelled in price a bit now obviously condition dependant.

if its just a run around why not get something cheap and cheap on fuel like a 1.2 16v?

Yeah its just going to be a run around for us and something to do the shopping in and throw the dog in the back.

We are going to see a Vauxhall Tigra on sat thats only got 46K on the clock but i just thought on the off chance someone might have known someone who is desperate to sell there car (PH1) or know of one sitting on ebay, gumtree or else where

Tigra's are terrible for rot, so make sure you have a good poke about.

For a £1000, i'd buy a puma rather than a tired 172. They are amazing to drive.

Or if your keen now then maybe 1200-
But realistically on 1k they will all be falling to bits-- steering wheels, steering components - cambelts second time around etc etc

Puma is a good call by Daniel but make sure you check rear wings carefully as they rot badly.

That 306-6 would be decent but as she is paying she has said no matter what she wants something with under 100K on the clock.

Seen a 306 Meridian with around 75K on it
