is "stretching" tyres safe?

iv seen this a few times now where ppl stretch a tyre over the rim, but surely that isnt safe? wont it just pop off?

quite safe imo. otherwise, drift cars wouldnt stretch the rubber onto their wheels

perfectly safe, a drifter friend does 80+ mph sideways on 165tyres stretched over 8j's, no problems at all!
