Is the 197 just an idiot magnet?

I have only had the 197 a week now (and god do I love it) but it seems to attract every useless chav in the area.

Even when its blatantly obvious I am taking my time, missus plus baby in the car, they still try and have a go.

Never had this problem (other than with Civic Type Rs) in my old Cooper S (they always lost).

I guess I'm just not used to having a car that attracts such utter twonks.

It's a pity as the car is stunning :star:

i didnt get too much attention in mine, a few clios used to try and race me but you can understand that, maybe minis too actually. It is bloody annoying though, they are jealous!

But since i've owned my Z4 coupe, every c**k in the world wants to road rage me, some penii in a Vauxhall Mervira (?) trying his best to chase and undertake me on the M42 today, lots of Porsches and M3s who know full well they are faster up my arse too!!

Don't get many people trying to race me, maybe the occasional Scoob up my ass. I let them go past.

I think a lot of it is your own perception TBH. I used to think people were trying to race my 182 when I got it. I've since realised that it happens regardless. I often get assholes trying to smoke me but, the same thing happens in my old man's Cmax :D

It's a little bit like the average V6 owner driving around with their eyes on stalks, thinking that every driver looking at their car, is admiring it with an erection.

Word perfect mate! keep seeing this V6 around Windsor, I nodded to him once and now he stares at me waiting for me to swoon at the sight of his side vents - I don't give him the satisfaction ;)

I usually find rep mobiles are the ones that try to egg me on, especially as it nears 9.00am and they are in hurry!

Some people just do it for the kicks fella. I had some mid 40's guy driving up my arse, over taking me, pulling in, then driving 20mph under what he'd been doing (whilst I was CC'ing it at 80(ish:eek:) meaning I had to overtake him again) for a good 70 miles from the M62 to the A1. Fail TBQFH!

I just let them get on with it now.

more had it with the 182, do recall some arse in a 1.2 trying to undertake me, with the 197 i dont really bother, if someone wants to fire up behind me i just pull over and let them by, think more f***s them up when you do that or go 60 in a 70 zone

best thing with the 197 and chav'syou dont need to do a lot to embarrass them then just slow down and watch their faces as they and their chavets drive past without looking haha makes it all worth while!!

Roffles. It's difficult to portray the humour online, dude. It was simply a dig at the sterotypical V6 owner, as they DO think everyone is looking at their car while bashing one off below the window line.

"so many people look at it"...well yeah, I look at pretty much every car using the same piece of road as me ;)

Lol, fair play mate! I'll agree with you there, there are probably quite a few in that catagory. Same can be said for pretty much every car with a loud Dump Valve aswell, "TSSCCHHHH" :D

I think I know what it is tbh. See, in my works car (shitbox vectra diesel) I cane the poor thing everywhere, as I just hate the thing. Where I love the 197, and kinda drive it nicely as I know I have the power to overtake, should I want to.

I guess I'm just not used to the attention it gets......I will admit it's a different sort of attention to that which I got in my cooper s.

I finally broke last night and gave in ignoring.................it was nice to be able to destroy a car so easily, I thought Mazda 3 MPS's were quicker, lol

just read the spec on them, is there an mps lookalike? cos you could hear he was trying...

no way should 197ps beat 260ps:S

suppose top speed levels the field (as in how fast the driver will go) but I pulled away from him onto the motorway, have to assume he was in the wrong gear
