Is the standard 172 alarm insurance approved

Just been told that the standard alarm system on a new 172, even the UK ones, is not an insurance approved system"

Is this the case?!

If it has CAT 1 on then yes. I thought UK ones eher CAT 1 standard.

No definitely not, whoever u heard that off dont know what theyre talking about.
Its Cat1 insurance approved, even the dynamique plus has the insurance approved alarm on it !

Ok, so UK dealer supplied 172s "should" have a CAT1 insurance approved alarm. Good.

What about imports then?

Do they have an alarm at all?

If so, is it the same/approved?

Nope no alarm on the imports unless otherwise stated m8.

Imports come without an alarm, but you can always get one installed that is Cat1 approved at between £200 to £400 from the savings you make on getting an import.

Depends where u import from cos some are already cat1 approved

Ive got a Renault one fitted that goes in the UK spec 172. Who told you that it isnt insurance approved?
