is the stock battery that crappy?

I've had my clio 200 for just over 8 months now. suddenly it didn't start this afternoon, battery died out i suppose. was perfectly fine just an hour earlier!
before this car, i had a new Megane for which the same thing happened after around the same time (8-9 month)... is that normal?!!

Think it depends how you drive.

If you do lots of short journeys then the battery never really gets a chance to re-charge so can just eventually run out. Looking at your location I highly doubt you get this, but when it's really cold that can wear them out too.

You may have a battery drain. A control unit not dropping to sleep etc

I had the exact same thing the other day , Was fine came back to the car and nothing battery was totally flat got it started and had a warning saying battery low

it should be a lot better than that even with short drives. Get it checked out for a drain...
