Is this a good price??

Currently getting my car fixed at a renault specialist as i have a tapping noise in the engine. They have just rang me and told me the hydraulic lifters need chaning and this is what is making the noise.

They have quoted me £600 inc VAT for a full set of lifters, a new fan belt and fitting my matched inlets.

The problem is i lost my job a week ago so money is tight and i wasnt expecting it to cost this much. The car still runs fine with the tapping and isnt causing any damage.

Could i pick up a set of lifters or a new head for cheaper than £270 thats what they are quoting for parts.

Sounds expensive TBH.

You'll need a cam belt and accessory belt fella.

I'd get the tensioner done too, if i were you... it's a weak point.

Have you tried Birchdown for your price? Maybe if you could get the parts cheaper too?

Try Josh @ ClioSpares
Matt @ SRB
or even GSF

There's no fan belt dude, it's electric, as with most transverse engines.

There's only two. A timing belt and an accessory belt.

A fair way from you, but if you can drive it, it's not too much hassle i guess.

SBV116 on here. Send him a PM!
