Is this low enough

tractor

slam it into the weeds, lowering doesnt make it look boy racerish, big alloys with gaps in the arches does ;)

  2005 Impreza WRX STI

it dont look as though its been lowered much mate, to be honest i would look to decrease the arch gap therefore increasing the gap between your roof and the clouds!;) looks ok though mate, not a tractor like bryan said!

  Skoda Fabia vRS

hope you didnt pay more than £500 for those wheels

cos thats how much they are @ work (Motor World)

  Mk2 Ph1, 1.6 16v Clio

Clarky - Pay attention boyyo! lol Its NOT been lowered - ive just stuck the wheels on. I was gonna get it lowered soon but Demon Tweeks say I cant now as the 17s are stretching the limit on my 1.6 16v....hmmm?!?!

Brun - I paid a lot less! I paid £375inc.vat with tyres - everything brand new.

So if someone can confrim that on my model of car even with 17" with 205/40s on it - I can lower it yeah? there doesnt look much room to spare and i dont want any scrubbage on the arches on full lock!

  2005 Impreza WRX STI

how come your bothered about scrubbage on full lock mate?how often do u use it? mine scrubs like mad on full lock.......u just have to compensate!.....5 point turns!lol its fine normal driving, its just when pulling off slowly with lock on??

  Mk2 Ph1, 1.6 16v Clio

Clarkie - heh - ur probably right abotu the full lock thing. But if i take it to Demon tweeks and ask them to lower it by 40mm, and they say no - what can i do? lol. Im buying some 40mm springs from a guy on here . Set of 4 for £15. When I get those ill get it lowered!

Brun - Rochford Tyres online. They were on a clearance offer. Well chuffed with the service. :)

daz! dont take it to demon tweaks, they will have your eyes out!go to a local garage mate!

howie, yes it is on coilovers mate.not sure on height? quite low though!had to cut rear bumper a tad  worth it though! no point having a shy rocket (or a tractor as ppl say on here!!)lol

  Mk2 Ph1, 1.6 16v Clio

Ok, sod it. Its definetly getting lowered 40mm. Ill make em friggin do it!

Once Ive done that though, I reckon maybe a nice subtle back-box, and maybe a K&N and thats about it.

Anyone know a nice back-box for a 1.6 16v? That is NOT LOUD? hehe

Slam it!! 60mm or there is no point IMO

I´m allmost -70mm and it´s no problem with 17s ET 38 205/40-17

^^^Same as yours Mk 2 Ph 1 1999

U see, the dilemna here is I hear different people giving different advice and I dont know which is true!!!

Basically, Demon Tweeks say dont lower it (theyre probably being safe as in scrubbage is a bad thing even if it doesnt affect us much). Some guys on here say just get some 40mm springs - and that new shocks are NOT needed. In fact one guy said theres a whole host of reasons why getting shocks is a bad idea and that the new lowered springs put no more strain on the standard shocks than the old springs did...
BUT then I read other experts saying that they lowered theirs by 40-60mm and their shocks lasted about a week so they had to get them after all....

Its just damn confusing!?!?!

Id really just like to drop it by 60mm but i reckon ill get plagued by problems so then I think im gonna drop it 40mm and be happy with it....but if it screws my shocks up then i just cant afford the money or the hassle of having to arrange to have my car booked into a garage to have them fixed etc etc....

I see your point....I had it like that when I first should lower my beast...;-)

Went for -35mm Eibach pro springs and was happy for a while, but just wanted to go a tad lower. Didn´t wan´t any half solution and risk in getting some low quality -60mm springs and saved for the real thing: coilovers!!

The only thing you scub against at -60mm will be the arch-liner and they are plastic, so nothing will be to any danger ect. ect.

Get some qual. springs and avoid budget ones IMO!! You get what you pay for, and getting coilover´s and slaming my beast is the best thing I´ve ever done to it!!! Just love the look and the handling is awesome!!

If you wan´t it lower than - 40mm and you don´t get what you realy wan´t I think you will changes your mind like me??

DUDE!!!!! you can lower upto 80mm without having to touch the arches!!!

Im the lowest mk2 clio in the UK (for day to day driving)

100m front and 110mm rear on coilovers

17inch wheels et 37 offset

Tell Demon Tweeks Bollox, Yozzasport will fit lowering springs and shocks to your car for £40 (based in Stafford and Birmingham)
